Queens Arch

Queens Arch was designed for Flushing Meadows Corona Park in Queens, a site frequented by people of many nationalities, not far from the famous Unisphere globe. Later called Sky Arch when it joined the collection of the College of Staten Island, the ten-foot-tall structure created an architectural passage from the shape of a human figure, arching above like an Egyptian sky goddess. The functional, steel armature led directly to my semi-transparent wire-mesh technique.
