Black Kite Bench in Taiwan

This sculptural bench was commissioned for an environmental residency at the National Museum of Marine Science & Technology in Keelung, Taiwan. Shaped like a local endangered bird, it was built with biodegradable bamboo and traditional methods of bending and binding, in order to call attention to the need for preservation of ocean life. As intended, in the next typhoon season, it gave its life back to the ocean.
