Woman Riding an Egret

Steel, wire mesh, recycled plastic construction mesh and ribbon 84”x120”x78”     Inspired by my Fulbright research in Taiwan, Woman Riding an Egret relates to Taoist images of flying Immortals. The bird is an egret, which, like the crane, connotes good fortune. Like many migrants, the traveling female figure wears a backpack. Migratory birds and migrating humans can both be considered in danger today.
