Rise Above at the Flatiron

Steel and galvanized wire mesh, 2017, window installation: 10'x11'x6'; Large Bird-Figure: 72”x96”x48”; Medium Bird-Figure 36"x60"x7"; Small Bird-Figure 18"x25"x5" The illuminated window installation Rise Above was curated by Cheryl McGinnis Projects for the iconic Flatiron Building in Manhattan. The installation presents five winged female figures in wire mesh—drawings in space—that explore human-bird personae. Inspired by myths from many world cultures, these images of the soul acknowledge dualities: strength and subtlety, movement and stability, ancient and contemporary, earth and sky.
