Black Kite Bench, Taiwan

Bamboo and sisal, 60" x 72" x 36" Black Kite Bench was one of 8 international public artworks commissioned in 2015 by curator Jane Ingram Allen for a new environmental residency at the National Museum of Marine Science & Technology in Keelung, Taiwan. It was built with environmental materials and with traditional methods of bending and binding bamboo, in order to call attention to preservation of ocean life. Photo by Da-Go Ku.
